ભારતીય સેનાના પ્રમુખ બિપીન રાવતે ગુરુવારે વાર્ષિક પત્રકાર પરિષદને સંબોધી હતી, જેમાં બોર્ડર પારથી ધૂસપેઠ કરી રહેલા આતંકીઓ વિરુધ કરવામાં આવી રહેલી જવાબી કાર્યવાહી અંગે મહત્વનું નિવેદન આપ્યું હતું.

તેઓએ કહ્યું હતું કે, “આતંકવાદ, હિંસા અને વાતચિત એકસાથે થઇ શકે એમ નથી. ભારતીય સેના તમામ સ્તરે તૈયાર છે અમે ચીન તેમજ પાકિસ્તાન એમ બંને ફ્રન્ટ ઉપર ખુબ સારું કામ કર્યું છે”.

સેના પ્રમુખે કાશ્મીરની પરિસ્થિતિ અંગે કહ્યું, “જમ્મુ-કાશ્મીરની સ્થિતિમાં હજી પણ સુધારો કરવામાં આવી શકે એમ છે. કાશ્મીરના મુદ્દે અમે અહીયાના સામાન્ય લોકોને નિશાન બનાવવા માંગતા નથી, પરંતુ અમે એ પણ જાણીએ છીએ કે આ જમીન પર આતંકવાદીઓ ઉપસ્થિત છે”.

“જમ્મુ-કાશ્મીર એ બે દેશ વચ્ચેનો એક દ્વિપક્ષીય મુદ્દો છે, જેમાં ત્રીજા દેશને દખલ કરવા માટે કોઈ જગ્યા નથી. અમે અમારા નિયમો અને શરતોને આધીન જ વાતચીત કરીશું. આ મુદ્દે અમારી શરત એકદમ સ્પષ્ટ છે કે, વાતચીત ત્યારે જ શક્ય બનશે જયારે હિંસા તેમજ ફાયરિંગ બંધ કરાશે”.

આતંકવાદીઓ અંગે બિપીન રાવતે કહ્યું, “કાશ્મીરમાં હિંસા થતી જ રહેશે, જો આતંકવાદી આવતા રહેશે તો અમે તેઓને મારતા જજ રહીશું. પરંતુ અમારે આ પરિસ્થિતિને રોકવી છે કારણ કે, અમે કાશ્મીરમાં શાંતિ ઈચ્છીએ છીએ”.
સીઝફાયર અંગે તેઓએ કહ્યું, “જો કોઈ બોર્ડર પર આવે છે ત્યારે તરત જ ફાયરિંગ શરુ થઇ જાય છે. આ જ કારણ છે કે સીઝફાયરની ઘટનાઓ વધતી જઈ રહી છે”.

બોર્ડર પર આતંકવાદીઓની ઉપસ્થિતિ અંગે તેઓએ કહ્યું, “બોર્ડર પર સીમા રેખા (LOC) નજીક અંદાજે ૩૦૦થી વધુ આતંકીઓ ઘૂસપેઠ કરવા માટે બેઠા છે.
