અમેરિકામાં ભારતીયો સાથે ભેદભાવના અનેક કિસ્સાઓ સામે આવતા રહે છે. હાલ જ અમેરિકા દ્વારા એક ગુજરાતીના અપમાનનો મામલો સામે આવ્યો છે. વડોદરાના વૈજ્ઞાનિક કરણ જાનીને ગરબાના વેન્યુમાંથી એટલે બહાર નીકાળી દીધો હતો કારણ કે તેના મિત્રોની અટક ગુજરાતી જેવી નહતી.
આ મામલે કરણે ટ્વીટ કર્યું હતું.
My Konkani friend who came to Garba for 1st time *due to enthusiasm of us Gujaratis* was pulled out of line & was told:
“We don’t come to your events, you are not allowed to ours”
She: “My last name is Murdeshwar. I’m Kannada-Marathi!”
Him: “What is Kannada? You are Ismaili”

I was told by that organizer, a senior person, things in Gujarati which are so crude & demeaning that it can’t be shared on public forum. Just to ensure we don’t dare to enter the temple again.

Year 2018 & Shakti Mandir in Atlanta, USA denied me and my friends entry from playing garba because:
“You don’t look Hindu and last name in your IDs don’t sound Hindu”

૨૯ વર્ષીય કરણ વસ્ર્હ ૨૦૧૬થી અમેરિકાની એક કંપનીમાં કામ કરે છે. આ કંપનીએ ગુરુત્વાકર્ષણના તરંગોની શોધ કરી હતી.
કરણે કહ્યું હતું કે તેઓ છેલ્લા ૬ વર્ષથી તે જ ગરબા વેન્યુમાં જાય છે અને તેમને આવી કોઈ તકલીફ અત્યાર સુધી થઇ નહતી. કરણે શ્રી શક્તિ મંદિરના આયોજક પર આરોપ લગાવ્યો છે કે તેઓએ સરખી વાત સાંભળી નહતી અને અંદર આવવાની મનાઈ કરી દીધી હતી. જે સમયે કરણને ભાર નીકળી દેવામાં આવ્યા હત તે દરમ્યાન તેના આંખમાં આંસુ આવી ગયા હતા.
ન્યુઝ એજન્સી એએનઆઈ સાથે વાતચીત દરમ્યાન કરણના પિતાએ કહ્યું કે આયોજકોએ તેને રોક્યો અને કહ્યું હતું કે હિંદુ જેવો નથી લાગી રહ્યો.
