પશ્ચિમ બંગાળની મુલાકાતે પહોચેલા વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ મિદનાપુરના કોલેજ ગ્રાઉન્ડ ખાતે આયોજિત એક ખેડૂત રેલીને સંબોધી હતી. જો કે આ દરમિયાન બનાવવામાં આવેલા મંડપનો એક ભાગ ધરાશાયી થવાના કારણે અંદાજે ૨૪ લોકો ઘાયલ પણ થયા છે.

જો કે ત્યારબાદ ઘાયલ થયેલા લોકોને પ્રાથમિક સારવાર માટે નજીકની હોસ્પિટલમાં લઇ જવામાં આવ્યા હતા અને આ લોકોની તેઓને જોવા માટે પીએમ મોદી હોસ્પિટલ પહોચ્યા હતા.
