4 ડીસેમ્બરને ભારતીય નૌસેના દિવસ તરીકે ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. દર વર્ષે આ દિવસ ઉજવવામાં આવે છે. ઇન્ડિયા ગેટ પર અમર જવાન જ્યોતિ મેમોરીયલ પર જવાનોને શ્રધ્ધાંજલિ અર્પણ કરવામાં આવી હતી. નેવી ડે ની ઉજવણીમાં દેશનાં વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદી, રક્ષા મંત્રી સીતા રમણ પણ હાજર રહ્યાં હતા.

આ પ્રસંગે ઇન્ડિયન આર્મીના ચીફ, ઇન્ડિયન એર ફોર્સનાં ચીફ અને ઇન્ડિયન નેવીનાં ચીફ હાજર હતા. આ પ્રસંગે નૌસેના પ્રમુખ એડમિરલ સુનીલ લાંબાએ કહ્યું હતું કે, નૌસેના પોતાની કેપેસીટી વધારવા માટે 56 જંગી જહાજ અને સબમરીનને શામેલ કરવાની યોજના બનાવી રહ્યાં છે.
ઇન્ડિયન નેવી ડે ઇન્ડો-પાકિસ્તાન વોર દરમ્યાન પાકિસ્તાનમાં કરાંચીમનાં નેવેલ બેઝ પર કરાયેલા ઘાતક હુમલાની યાદમાં મનાવવામાં આવે છે.
દેશનાં વડાપ્રધાને નૌસેના દિવસની શુભેચ્છા પાઠવી હતી. એમણે જણાવ્યું કે કુદરતી સંકટ સમયે બચાવ કામગીરીમાં એમનું અભૂતપૂર્વ યોગદાન છે.
