ભારત દેશનાં સૌ પ્રથમ રાષ્ટ્રપતિ રાજેન્દ્ર પ્રસાદની આજે જન્યજયંતિ છે.ભારતીય સંવિધાનનાં નિર્માણમાં એમનો ફાળો અનન્ય હતો. બિહારમાં જન્મેલા રાજેન્દ્ર પ્રસાદ વકીલ હતા પરંતુ ગાંધીજીથી પ્રેરાઈને તેઓએ આઝાદીની લડતમાં ઝંપલાવ્યું હતું.
ભારતના સૌથી ઉચ્ચ સન્માન ભારત રત્ન એવોર્ડથી પણ એમને નવાજવામાં આવ્યા હતા. તેઓ 1950 ની સંવિધાન સભાની અંતિમ બેઠકમાં રાષ્ટ્રપતિ તરીકે પસંદ પામ્યા. 26 જાન્યુઆરી, 1950 થી લઈને 13 મે, 1962 સુધી તેઓ દેશનાં રાષ્ટ્રપતિ રહ્યા હતા.
એમની જન્મ જયંતિ પર દેશનાં વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ એમને યાદ કર્યા હતા અને શ્રધાંજલિ આપી હતી.
