કાંચીપુરમ કામકોટી પીઠના શંકરાચાર્ય શ્રી જયેન્દ્ર સરસ્વતીનું બુધાવરે નિધન થયું છે. શ્રી જયેન્દ્ર સરસ્વતીને શ્વાસ લેવામાં તકલીફ પડતી હતી તેથી તેમણે હોસ્પિટલમાં દાખલ કરાયા હતા. તે દરમ્યાન તેમનું નિધન થયું હતું.
શ્રી શંકરાચાર્યના નિધનના સમાચાર મળતા જ પ્રધાનમંત્રી નરેન્દ્ર મોદીએ તેમના નિધન પર દુઃખ વ્યક્ત કર્યું હતું. પ્રધાનમંત્રી મોદીએ ટ્વીટ કર્યું હતું અને તેમને શંકરાચાર્ય સાથેનો એક જુનો ફોટોગ્રાફ્સ પણ શેર કર્યો હતો.

પીએમ મોદીએ ટ્વીટમાં લખ્યું હતું કે, શ્રી શંકરાચાર્ય હમેશાં આપણા દિલોમાં જીવત રહેશે. શંકરાચાર્યે સમાજ માટે ઘણા બધા સારા કામો કર્યા છે.

શંકરાચાર્યનો જન્મ 18 જુલાઈ 1935માં થયો હતો. તે કાંચી મઠના 69માં શંકરાચાર્ય હતા. તે 1954માં શંકરાચાર્ય બન્યા હતા. કાંચી મઠ દ્વારા ઘણી બધી સ્કૂલો અને આંખોની હોસ્પિટલ પણ ચલાવવામાં આવે છે. શંકરાચાર્યના નિધનના સમાચાર મળતા ઘણા બધા નેતાઓ દુઃખ વ્યક્ત કર્યું હતું.
ભાજપના નેતા રામ માધવે ટ્વીટ કરીને કહ્યું હતું કે જયેન્દ્ર સરસ્વતી શંકરાચાર્યના નિધનના સમાચાર મળતા દુઃખ થયું છે. તે એક સુધારાવાદી સંત હતા તેમને સમાજ માટે ઘણા બધા સારા કામો કર્યા છે.
