Seven-time champion Roger Federer reached the Wimbledon semi-finals for the 12th time on Wednesday with a 6-4, 6-2, 7-6(4) win over Milos Raonic. This is also the 42nd time that the Swiss has made it to the final of a Major.

Early on, Raonic posed no problems for Federer as the latter convincingly played out two quickfire sets to take a two-sets-to-love lead. However, in the third set, Raonic looked to be mounting a challenge as he held his service games to keep Federer on the backfoot. In the eighth game of the set, Federer saved multiple break points on his serve to keep the game on serve at four-all. In the eventual tie-break in the set, Raonic sped away to a 3-1 lead with a mini-break, but Federer overturned the deficit to take the set, and the win, 7-4.

Federer, 35, and playing in his 100th match at the All England Club, will now face 2010 runner-up Tomas Berdych for a place in Sunday’s final.
